No Signal, 2021

Neon, Acrylic and vintage TV
45x40x35cm
$1,991

This piece is a small representation of my childhood, growing up in the 90’s with analogue television. The signal would cut out and this array of colours would display on the tube, often evoking feelings of disappointment. By creating this piece I think the feelings of disappointment have been replaced by feelings of nostalgia.

With television being a form of light, I figured that as the old cathode ray tube (CRT) was rendered useless, why not remove it and put another form of light (neon) in its place, in turn, giving it a new life. The neon can be turned on by the switch on the TV set and the flickering speed can be adjusted by the dials on the front.

Prizm, 2021

Neon and enamel on MDF panel
85x85x17cm
$2,500

neon is made of glass and one of the materials prisms can be made from is also glass. This piece illustrates how white light can be refracted through a prism to create a spectrum of colour.

On the left-hand side there are 3 shades of white that enter the prism and on the right is a spectrum of colour exiting the prism. The purple and blue ‘C’ shapes in the centre are a representation of a bright ultra violet ‘shine’ that could occur through the process.
